FAQ
-
Do you offer logo design only?
I don’t offer standalone logo design. Every logo is created as part of a complete brand identity to ensure it functions cohesively across all platforms and touchpoints.
-
What is the difference between branding and brand identity?
Branding is the overall perception of your business — how it feels, communicates, and connects. Brand identity is the visual expression of that brand, including logos, colors, typography, and design systems that bring it to life.
-
What is a creative direction presentation?
A creative direction presentation outlines the strategic and visual foundation of your brand. It includes brand positioning, visual inspiration, tone, and design direction — ensuring every design decision is intentional and aligned.
-
How far in advance should I book?
Website design projects are typically booked 1–2 months in advance. I work with a limited number of clients at a time to ensure each project receives thoughtful creative direction.
-
Will my website look like a template?
While it is true that Squarespace has a tightly curated library of templates to work with, the templates are there to act as a jumping-off point. I aim for a website that is distinctly and beautifully branded, but maintains a familiar user experience.
-
What if I don't have the right content?
Having the right branding, imagery, and copy are prerequisites to creating a great website. If you are starting from scratch, I can help you create the best assets possible by giving you detailed instructions on what exactly I need and guide you through the process. I can provide you with written copy, graphic design, and photography as needed.
-
Can you design my website if I already have a brand identity?
Yes. I regularly work with clients who already have an established brand. In these cases, the website is designed to refine and elevate your existing visual identity while ensuring cohesion and clarity across digital touchpoints.
-
Aren't their free website options?
Things are rarely as free as they first appear. Once you add in costs for hosting, domains, themes, apps, plugins, custom domains, and removing third-party ads, you’re looking at a price significantly higher than “free.” An advantage to using Squarespace is the ability to package domains, hosting, customer support, and continued improvements into a single monthly or annual payment.
-
Can I preserve my SEO?
If you have strong search rankings for key pages or blog posts that you'd like preserved, switching platforms may cause a temporary dip in established search ranking. With Squarespace, however, that dip can be significantly reduced.
First, Squarespace supports importing from most popular blogging platforms, letting you keep the types of content that often contributes the most to your SEO rankings.
Second, it’s easy to customize URLs so inbound links will continue to work.
Third, if some pages don’t migrate over to Squarespace, it’s simple to create redirects that preserve those pages’ SEO value.
-
Do you design websites and brand identities together?
Absolutely. Many clients choose to combine brand identity design and website design into one seamless process. This ensures consistency across every touchpoint and allows the website to be built directly from the brand’s creative direction.
-
Is website copywriting included?
Website copywriting is not included by default, but it can be added as a separate service or completed collaboratively using client-provided content. I always guide layout, hierarchy, and flow to ensure the copy works strategically within the design.
-
How long does a website design project take?
Most website design projects take 4–6 weeks, depending on scope and responsiveness. Projects that include brand identity design typically take 6–8 weeks.
-
What is the investment for custom website design?
Website design projects typically begin at $4,500 CAD. Combined brand and website projects range from $12,000–$18,000 CAD, depending on scope and deliverables.
-
Do you offer SEO services?
I implement basic SEO structure, including clean layouts, page hierarchy, and best practices for headings and content placement. Ongoing SEO strategy, blogging, or advanced optimization can be added through referrals if needed.
-
Will my website be mobile-friendly?
Yes. Every website is designed to be fully responsive, ensuring a seamless experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
-
Do you provide website maintenance or ongoing support?
Ongoing maintenance is not included, but I provide a clear handoff and guidance so you feel confident managing your site. Maintenance support or updates can be added as needed.
